In view of the Uri attack and the upcoming festive season, officials of Delhi Police have been issued an advisory on the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs to step up security in areas that see a high footfall during this period.
The advisory issued to Delhi Police states that since Delhi is the national capital, it is "vulnerable" to terror attacks and the police needs to "maintain heightened alert" during the upcoming festivals.
It has been asked to "monitor" and "patrol" places which will witness celebrations and high footfall during the festival time like malls, hotels, airport, metro stations, temples, bus stands, railways stations and educational institutions.
The advisory has also asked the police to ensure that CCTV cameras are repaired and their footage is checked and monitored regularly.
"We have increased security around malls and markets. We are also in the process of planning mock drills in key market areas and malls to check the preparedness of the staff and our cops," said a senior police officer.
