"Sterling & Wilson is largely present in the African market apart from Middle East, South East Asia and Latin America. The company now expects to further expand its footprint and construct nearly 250 MW capacity solar power projects in Nigeria in next 2-3 years," company's president, solar business, Bikesh Ogra said today.
The company is eyeing projects, which are being developed by international solar project developers, who have recently signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading under the feed-in-tariff program by power ministry of Nigeria.
Ogra said that with its experience of commissioning more than 1,000 MW, the company is currently involved in advanced negotiations with these developers to offers its turn-key EPC solutions for proposed projects in Nigeria.
Sterling & Wilson has already commissioned more than 40 MW of gas-based power plant and has been a regular supplier of diesel generators to many local companies in Nigeria.
The company already has projects of 260 MW in Egypt, 175 MW in Morocco, 87 MW in South Africa and 7 MW in Nigeria in the pipeline. Its largest Solar PV Plant of 90 MW in size, is operational in South Africa.
