Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today told the state assembly that stern action would be taken against illegitimate recruitment agencies that exploit women by transporting them abroad by offering job.
Vijayan was replying to a calling attention of CPI(M)'s T V Rajesh to the necessity to solve the miseries being experienced by women from the state who have been illegally emigrated to gulf countries by various agencies.
The Chief Minister said that government has received several complaints from women in this regard. The Centre has also informed the state that necessary steps would be taken to rescue those persons who were exploited.
Government has worked out a scheme to rehabilitate the women victims of illegitimate recruitment agencies. State was also in consultation with Centre to set up 'Help Desk' in gulf countries to assist the suffering people.
Unrecognised agencies recruit women by charging lakhs of rupees by offering them job, he said, adding, the state has brought this matter to the notice of Centre.
Rajesh said women who were taken to gulf countries even land up in the hands of sex racket mafia and wanted steps to end the misery.
