Insisting that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee owed an explanation to the nation on the issue, he dismissed TMC's claim that the whole thing was a "political conspiracy".
"When Saradha chitfund scam had broken, they had spoken in a similar vein," he said, adding that BJP too talks of such conspiracies when faced with such controversies.
Dubbing the sting operation by a news portal as "manufactured", TMC is accusing its detractors of hatching a "political conspiracy" ahead of the Assembly elections.
Asked about Enforcement Directorate taking into custody NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal who was Deputy Chief Minister in Congress-led coalition in Maharashtra, Tewari said "the law should be allowed to take its own course".
