Stolen jewellery worth Rs 1.5 cr recovered within 12 hours

Police recovered jewellery worth Rs 1.5 crore within 12 hours of it being stolen, from Narela area in north west Delhi today although the robbers are still at large.
The silver ornaments and diamonds, being brought from Punjab, were robbed by two youth from near Alipur area on NH-1 of outer Delhi at around 1 am last night, police said.
"When Manish, a salesman with (jeweller Surendra) Gupta, along with two colleagues and driver, were returning from Punjab after taking jewellery from there, two unidentified youth waylaid their car on NH-1 near Khampur village and snatched bags containing silver and diamonds and fled the spot," Additional CP (Outer)Sanjay Kumar said.
Manish immediately called up his employer and then informed police about the loot.
On a tip off, a police team was sent to Narela this afternoon from where all the jewellery was recovered from the car abandoned by the robbers who managed to flee, another police officer said.
