Stone pelting in Belagavi after Dussehra festivities

: Tension prevailed here after incidents of stone pelting were reported in some parts of the city following Dussehra festival celebrations, police said today.
Twenty four persons of two different communities were taken into custody in this connection, Belagavi Commissioner of Police T G Krishna Bhat told reporters here.
He said, the festival passed of peacefully but during the stone pelting that took place later, four vehicles, including two belonging to the police were damaged last night, he said, adding, the cause was not known yet.
Being Moharram today, tight security arrangements have been made, he said.
Meanwhile, the residents of Chavat Galli staged gherao at Police Commissioner's office today demanding release of their children claiming that they were wrongly taken into custody.

The situation in the city was tense but under control, DCP (law and Order) G Radhika said.
