The party said the appointment of Singh as Rajasthan Governor should be stopped in order to protect the "dignity" of the post.
"JD(U) demands that the appointment of Kalyan Singh as Governor of Rajasthan should be reconsidered and stopped to protect the dignity of the position of Governor, which the BJP government at the Centre has already damaged by unethically removing governors since they have come to power," party spokesperson K C Tyagi said.
"JD(U) has requested President of Pranab Mukherjee to reconsider the decision of appointing Kalyan Singh as Governor of Rajasthan. Kalyan Singh was found guilty and punished by Supreme Court for filing a false affidavit on December 5, 1992 assuring the Supreme Court that he will protect Babri Masjid at any cost being the CM of Uttar Pradesh," Tyagi said.
"If a person convicted for contempt of court is made the head of state, this will certainly create constitutional crisis," he said.
