All 95 stranded passengers and crew of the Kolkata-Guwahati-Jorhat Jet Konnect flight that skidded off the runway at Rowriah airport in Jorhat today left for their destinations on a substitute aircraft.
The substitute Guwahati-Kolkata-Bangalore Jet Konnect flight with 145 passengers and seven crew members took off from Rowriah airport, the airlines sources here said.
The aircraft which skidded off the runway is undergoing thorough check-up by technical teams of experts who arrived from Kolkata and Delhi and some minor technical snag was found in its rear wheel, the sources said.
The aircraft will be allowed permission to take off after the technical teams give a clean chit for flying, he said.
Yesterday, 95 passengers and crew members of the Kolkata-Guwahati-Jorhat Jet Konnect flight had a close shave when the aircraft skidded off the runway at Rowriah airport and one of its rear wheels got stuck in the ground when it was taxiing to the parking bay.
After the wheel got stuck, the front portion of the plane tipped downwards but a mishap was averted as the aircraft's engine had been switched off and it was taxiing at limited speed as it was about 1,500 metres away from the airport lounge, the airport authority had said.
The passengers escaped injury and were brought down from the aircraft. They were accommodated in local hotels for the night before being put on the substitute aircraft today.
The stuck aircraft was later pulled out of the ground with the help of an Indian Air Force crane and other machinery.
