All street lights being illuminated by traditional bulbs will be replaced with LED bulbs under 'street light national programme', Sushil Modi said.
Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), a PSU under the Ministry of Power, has been nominated as agency to execute the work in the state, the deputy chief minister said adding that the state government would soon enter into agreement with EESL after getting cabinet nod in this regard.
He chaired a meeting convened to discuss the issue, which was attended by Urban Development and Housing Minister Suresh Kumar Sharma, Patna Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhishek Singh and representatives of EESL and others.
Central Control and Monitoring System (CCMS) will control the entire functioning of the power supply to the street lights, he said adding that this will not only help in power pilferage and ensure proper metering but would also be operated through remote switch to get the lights on and off at a particular time.

The installation of LED lights on streets of municipal corporations of the state will be carried out in three phases, he said.
The provisions of the agreement would also incorporate that agency (EESL) will be penalised at the rate of Rs 25 per day per pole if the agency does not repair or replace the LED light within 72 hours.
