Vehicles remained off the roads, markets remained closed and train service was stopped due to picketing by the strike enforcers.
Schools, colleges and educationa institutions, banks and financial institutions were closed and attendence in government offices, including the state Civil secretariat here were thin.
However, flights operated in the Agartala airport as usual.
Police said, no untoward incident was reported from any part of the state so far.

High Court Judge Subhasish Talapatra ordered the Deputy Registrar of the court and police to seize all answer sheets.
