Strong 6.8 quake hits remote Russian Far East

Moscow, Feb 14 (AFP) A strong 6.8 magnitude earthquake today shook the remote and largely uninhabited Sakha region in Russia's Far East, the local emergency ministry service said. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the quake, whose epicentre was recorded 300 kilometres north of the village of Ust-Nera. The quake struck 10 kilometres below ground at 5:13 Moscow time, ITAR-TASS quoted the Sakha emergency ministry saying. (AFP) PY 02142023 NNNN
