Stud Union President thrashes policemen, flee with prisoner

The president of Meerut College students union here was booked for allegedly attacking policemen and forcibly releasing a prisoner from their custody, police said today.
Dushyant Tomar, President of a students' body of Meerut college pelted stones on policemen and forcibly released Surendra Fauji from the lockup yesterday, in which five cops were injured, they said.
A case was registered against the accused and his associates under relevant sections of IPC today at Sadar Bazar police station, police said.
The prisoner Fauji was arrested for allegedly thrashing Pradeep Sharma, in a dispute over a shop in Begum Pul area, they said.
Tomar, along with co-students pressurised the cops to release Fauji, claiming he was innocent. However, the cops refused following which the students union president attacked them.
The accused, in turn, has filed a counter-complaint against the Sadar Bazar police for allegedly thrashing him and his nearly half a dozen supporters.
The police have not registered a case on Tomar's complaint so far.
