Student allegedly beaten by teacher; case lodged

A class six student of a government residential school was allegedly beaten by his teacher in the district, police said today.
The 12-year-old student was last week asked to read out a table, failing which he was beaten, said Vijay Kumar, Sub Inspector of Police, Ramchandrapur Police Station.
The incident came to light today after the student's parents met him and saw injuries on his back, said Kumar.
Following a complaint, a case under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of IPC was lodged, the officer said, adding a probe was on.
