Student thrashed on college campus; attempts suicide

A 21-year-old youth attempted suicide after two students of his institute allegedly beat him up at Dundigal here, police said today.
Shravan Kumar, who is pursuing pharma course at a private institute, was allegedly thrashed by two engineering students of the same intitution on Friday evening, they said.
Police said Kumar allegedly consumed some tablets on the campus after the incident.
"He fell unconscious following which he was rushed to a hospital where he is under observation", they added.
Ruling out ragging, police said the cause being the attack on Kumar will be known after the student duo who are currently absconding are traced. The duo are booked under relevant sections of IPC, they added.
