Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said the government was framing the Student Transport Safety Policy to provide transportation facilities to students from rural areas.
He said the scheme would be for both boys and girls and fares would be decided on distance basis.
For the smooth implementation of the scheme, nodal officers would be appointed in schools and colleges, Khattar said.
He said the government was working to improve the quality of education in schools and create a better academic environment for the students.
Rationalisation is being carried out for proper student-teacher ratio in schools, Khattar added.
Replying to a question, the chief minister said the present BJP government in the state "has been filling the potholes dug by the previous Congress government". "We have completed works left pending by the Congress," he added.
Khattar said the BJP government has completed about 90 per cent of the works promised in its election manifesto, and the work was under progress on the remaining 10 per cent.

Replying to a question, Khattar said he supports "the principle of one nation one election". It would be possible only with the consent of all political parties and an amendment in the Constitution, he said.
The plan to hold simultaneous polls could become possible in 2024 if all political parties extend cooperation. The BJP is ready for it, Khattar added.
He said all arrangements have been made for the upcoming municipal corporation election in the state. The BJP would contest the election on party symbol, he added.
