A section of students of a private Christian management college here today boycotted classes and prayer meeting, alleging religious discrimination against Hindus during a cultural show, police said.
The students, all Hindus, alleged that the Church of South India-run college management prevented a girl from singing a song from Kamal Hassan's film 'Dashavatharam' praising Lord Vishnu and Shiva, they said.
The management reportedly asked the girl not to sing such songs since the college was run by CSI.
About 25 students boycotted classes and prayer meeting protesting this. They then assembled and tried to approach the collectorate to submit a petition, police said.
Midway through, the college officials intervened and allegedly forced them to return threatening them with disciplinary action.
College officials were not available for their comments.
