students of academic sessions 2008-09 to 2010-11 of College of Agriculture of Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) were honoured for their achievements in academic and co-curricular activities at the Golden Jubilee prize distribution function of the college today.
Gurbachan Singh, Chairman, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB), who was chief guest on the occasion, said since modern agricultural practices were increasingly turning out to be knowledge-based, it was imperative for young agricultural scientists to equip themselves to handle the challenges like food and nutrition security, globalization and climate change.
Singh emphasized on providing necessary support to higher education. He said there were many agricultural universities in the country which did not possess sufficient basic facilities necessary for carrying out teaching, research and extension activities.
