Two youths allegedly attempted to molest a girl student of Sambalpur University in Odisha, triggering tension in the campus as angry students boycotted classes today and disrupted academic activities.
Two bike-borne youths had tried to molest the girl student of the University while she was going to the hostel last evening, but she managed to escape, police sources said.
University students shut the main gate and disrupted work in the administrative block and boycotted classes in protest against the attempted molestation.
The agitating students demanded strengthening of security and police patrol in the university campus.
The students complained there were no policemen at the university police outpost when they reached there last night and that action should be taken against them.
The students had ransacked the police outpost and blocked the National Highway 53 for around four hours last night.
