Notwithstanding the indefinite closure of arts and science colleges, groups of students continued their protests at several places in Tamil Nadu for the sixth day to press the Centre to support the US sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka in the UNHRC.
A batch of students of Dr Ambedkar Law University and Dr Ambedkar Government Law College here continued their fast demanding an independent probe against Colombo for alleged war crimes.
As the anti-Sri Lanka protests by students spread to more places, the state government had yesterday instructed all arts and science colleges to remain closed till further orders.
Meanwhile, around 50 activists of pro-Tamil outfits were arrested when they blocked suburban train services at different places in the city, police said.
A Coimbatore report said around 40 school students also took to the streets over the Lankan Tamils issue even as the indefinite fast by 20 students of Law and Government Arts colleges entered the sixth day there.
However, the school students were removed by police and sent back to their school, police said.
Students from some engineering colleges too joined the stir expressing solidarity with the fasting colleagues.
