Students set afire stage set for sports festival

Students at the Anantnag degree college in south Kashmir today went on a rampage, setting afire the stage set by police for a sports festival to protest against holding of the event.
Police had organised a sports festival for the students at the degree college located at Khanabal this morning.
A group of students started raising slogans against holding of the event and started pelting stones, a police official said.
The police personnel tried to chase away the "miscreants" but more students joined the violent protest and set on fire the stage and some tents erected in the college ground, he said.

There were no reports of anyone getting injured in the incident so far, he added.
