Students to undergo internships in govt departments: Bedi

In novel initiative, Puducherry government has decided to offer internship to students in its various departments to enable them learn nuances of public service.
The government had decided to introduce a new concept of taking students under internship in various departments so that they would be able to learn nuances of public service and also draw inspiration for civil service course of career, a release from the office of Lt Governor Kiran Bedi said today.
It said Bedi held a video conferencing with officials of various departments on her completing one month in office yesterday and thanked them for their cooperation in bringing in a makeover in the government departments and to reach the goal of 'prosperous Puducherry'.
Bedi also asked the Secretaries and Heads of Departments to take up a 'shramdhaan' programme every week to clean the office premises, dispose off the pending files, establish inter departmental coordination for effective functioning and to find solutions for swift settlement of grievances, the release said.
A former IPS officer and BJP leader, Bedi assumed charge as Lt Governor of Puducherry on May 29, filling the post which was under the additional charge of Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Island for nearly two years.
