A Thane police sub-inspector and woman were arrested here for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000, Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) unit said today.
Sub-inspector attached to Shri Nagar police station Balu D Rathod (38) and a woman Vaishali Shivaji Malusare (38) were arrested last night in a trap laid by ACB officials for allegedly taking Rs 30,000 as bribe from the complainant, ASP, ACB Shrinivas Ghagde said.
According to the complainant, he had purchased a room in Indira Nagar slum in Thane in March this year from Vaishali but she did not vacate the room nor handed over possession to him, police said, adding, the woman instead registered a complaint against the buyer at the Shri Nagar police station.

The complainant then approached Thane ACB unit and filed a complaint against SI Rathod and Vaishali, following which a trap was laid and the duo were arrested.
They both have been charged under sections relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and further probe into the case was on, he said.
