Being the first All India sub-junior tournament of the current season, the four-day event has received record number of entries and the qualifying rounds will have around 700 matches on September 12 and 13, chief coach of Padukone Sports Management, the organisers, Vimal Kumar told reporters here.
The main draw will begin on September 14 and finals will be played on September 16, Kumar added.
The event will showcase some talented Under-13 players like Lakshya Sen of Uttarakhand, Kartikey (Delhi) and Karnataka's Rahul Bhardwaj, Kumar said.
"They are identified by Olympic Gold Quest and are hopefuls for 2020 Olympic Games," he said.
Similarly, Rahul Yadav, Siril Verma in U-15 boys' event are prominent players to watch out for, Kumar said, adding Karnataka's Ashwini Bhat will start as the favourite.
The first edition of the tournament was held in 1999 and had attracted players like Olympic medalist Saina Nehwal over the years.
