Submit weekly reports on vector-borne diseases: LG to MCD

Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal today asked the civic bodies to submit a weekly report to him and the chief minister on action taken to combat vector-borne diseases in the city and directed them to intensify the awareness drive.
In a high-level meeting at the Raj Niwas here, Baijal instructed the three municipal corporations to fix the responsibility of field workers in their respective areas.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The LG also directed the health department to develop a mechanism of monitoring of work of all concerned agencies.
According to the latest municipal corporation report released on Monday, at least 61 cases of dengue and 131 cases of chikungunya have been reported in the national capital till June 3.
"The LG directed that a massive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign be launched through handbills in newspapers, hoardings, billboards and street plays," the LG office said in a statement.

It also stated that Baijal also stressed on developing an effective mechanism by health department of monitoring of work of all concerned agencies.
"In the meeting, he instructed that local bodies should assign area wise duty to field workers and fix their accountability for their respective areas," the statement said said.
Kejriwal stated that in view of the upcoming rainy season with possibility of water logging, all the concerned agencies must ensure necessary corrective action.
