"For the smooth conduct of the prestigious international event, I thank the people of Assam and Meghalaya, officials of Government of Assam and Government of India, the Indian Olympic Association, different sports organisations, players and delegates, volunteers and the media," Gogoi said in a statement here.
The 12th edition of SAG, co-hosted by Assam and Meghalaya, was the most successfully staged ever in terms of participation and number of disciplines.
The Chief Minister said the Games have proved Assam has the best infrastructure in place built during the 33rd National Games, to host major national and international sports events.
"It has also silenced the critics who had strong reservations whether Assam could host such a mega sports extravaganza," he said.
