Suchitra Sen gets Filmfare lifetime achievement award

Actress Suchitra Sen, who passed away in January, has been posthumously given a lifetime achievement award at the inaugural edition of Filmfare Awards East.
The award was accepted by her granddaughters Raima and Riya Sen at a glittering ceremony last night.
Suchitra Sen, best known for films like 'Devdas', 'Aandhi' 'Saptapadi' and 'Deep Jele Jai' passed away at the age of 82 in January this year.
Legendary Bengali actress Madhabi Mukherjee was also given the lifetime achievement award by Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan.
To recognise the best of cinematic talent in eastern India, from this year onwards Filmfare has started honouring films in Bengali, Odiya and Assamese languages.

The best Bengali film award went to the superhit adventure thriller 'Chander Pahar' (Mountain of the Moon) while the best male actor award was won by Ritwick Chakraborty for 'Shobdo' (Sound).

Konkona Sen Sharma was judged the best actress for her role in mother Aparna Sen-directed period film 'Goynaar Baksho' (Jewellery Box).
Shibaprasad Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy won the best directors award for their film 'Alikh Sukh'.
In Odiya films, the romantic drama film 'Mu Eka Tumara' (I am only for you) bagged all the four awards including best film.
It is written and directed by Sushant Mani and stars the hit pair of Sabyasachi Mishra and Archita Sahu, who also bagged an award each.

Assamese drama film 'Dwaar' (Door) was selected for the best film award and also bagged the best actor and actress award.
The film is directed by Bidyut Chakravarty and is based on an Assamese short story.
The best director went to Pulak Gogoi for his film 'Momtaaj'.
