Sugar declines on weak demand, adequate stocks

Sugar prices were trading lower by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following fall in demand amid adequate stocks.
Marketmen said reduced offtake by stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers mainly pulled down sugar prices.
Sugar spot M-30 and S-30 prices were down by Rs 3,930-3,980 and Rs 3,920-3,970 as compared from last close of Rs 3,950-4,000 and Rs 3,940-3,990 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar Asmoli, Dorala, Khatuli and Sakoti slipped by Rs 10 each to Rs 3,690, Rs 3,650, Rs 3,690 and Rs 3,640 per quintal.
Prices of Mawana, Budhana, Thanabhavan and Simbholi also eased by Rs 5 each to Rs 3,650, Rs 3,660, Rs 3,650 and Rs 3,690 per quintal.
