Marketmen said mild demand from retailers and bulk consumers mainly supported the upside in sugar prices.
However, adequate stocks position on higher supplies from mills capped the rise, they said.
Meanwhile, country's sugar production rose by 33 per cent to 7.61 lakh tonnes till November 15th in the current marketing year on higher output from Maharashtra.
Sugar production in India, the world's second largest producer and biggest consumer, stood at 5.74 lakh tonnes in the same period of 2014-15 marketing year (October-September).

Similarly, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 edged up to Rs 2,630-2,885 and Rs 2,620-2,875 against last close of Rs 2,605-2,860 and Rs 2,595-2,850 per quintal, respectively.
In the millgate section, Kinnoni, Asmoli, Dorala and Budhana were settled higher at Rs 2,885, Rs 2,850, Rs 2,710 and Rs 2,700 as compared to previous levels of Rs 2,860, Rs 2,830, Rs 2,690 and Rs 2,695 per quintal, respectively.
Thanabhavan, Dhanora and Simbholi enquired higher at Rs 2,700, Rs 2,680 and Rs 2,890 against last levels of Rs 2,685, Rs 2,660 and Rs 2,860 per quintal, respectively.
