Sugar ends lower on ample stocks, selective buying

Sugar prices softened by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following ample stocks against scattered demand.
Marketmen said reduced offtake by stockists and bulk consumers following end of festive season demand amid ample availability of stocks on relentless arrivals from mills, dragged down sweetener prices.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices enquired lower by Rs 10 each to settle at Rs 3,990-4,140 and Rs 3,980-4,130 per quintal.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also traded lower by Rs 10 each to settle the day at Rs 3,640-3,860 and Rs 3,630- 3,850 per quintal.
In the mill gate section, sugar Nazibabad dropped by Rs 20 to conclude at Rs 3,640, followed by Khatuli and Nanota slipped by Rs 15 each to Rs 3,820 and Rs 3,640 per quintal.
Prices of Kinnoni edged lower by Rs 10 to Rs 3,860, while Budhana and Thanabhavan lean down by Rs 5 each to Rs 3,790 and Rs 3,785 per quintal.
