Traders attributed rise in sugar prices to firm demand from retailers and bulk consumers supported by ongoing wedding.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 edged up to Rs 2,960-3,160 and Rs 2,950-3,150 from previous levels of Rs 2,850-3,050 and Rs 2,840-3,040 per quintal respectively.
Similarly, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 traded higher at Rs 2,730-2,970 and Rs 2,720-2,960 as against previous close of Rs 2,660-2,890 and Rs 2,650-2,880 per quintal respectively.
In the millgate section, Mawana new, Kinnoni, Asmoli, Dorala and Budhana traded higher at Rs 2,880, Rs 2,970, Rs 2,900, 2,865 and Budhana new 2,870 against last close of Rs 2,780, Rs 2,880, Rs 2,860,Rs 2,775 and Rs 2,775 per quintal respectively.
