Sugar prices drifted lower by 0.76 per cent to Rs 3,415 per quintal in futures trade today as traders reduced their exposure, triggered by easing demand in the spot market against ample stocks position on higher supplies.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in December moved down by Rs 26 or 0.76 per cent to Rs 3,415 per quintal with an open interest of 11,970 lots.
Analysts said trimming of positions by participants, triggered by ample stocks in the physical market on higher supplies from mills, led to decline in sweetener prices at futures trade.
