Sugar prices dropped by 1.19 per cent to Rs 3,560 per quintal in futures trade today as participants reduced exposures, triggered by adequate stocks position at spot market against easing demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in December fell by Rs 43, or 1.19 per cent to Rs 3,560 per quintal with an open interest of 14,690 lots.
On similar lines, the sweetener for delivery in October contracts lost Rs 36, or 1.03 per cent at Rs 3,458 per quintal in 9,630 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by traders amid ample stocks position in the physical market against muted demand from bulk consumers pulled down sugar prices at futures trade.
