Sugar prices rose by 0.32 per cent to Rs 3,470 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in December rose by Rs 11, or 0.32 per cent to Rs 3,470 per quintal with an open interest of 8,590 lots.
Likewise, the sweetener for delivery in far-month March was trading higher by Rs 10, or 0.28 per cent to Rs 3,634 per quintal in 3,190 lots.
Analysts said traders created fresh positions after pick-up in demand in the spot market which mainly attributed the rise in sugar prices at futures trade.
