Sugar mill prices fell up to Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale sugar market in national capital today following persistent supplies by mills against low demand from stockists and bulk consumers.
Marketmen said increased supplies from mills and slackened demand from stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers, mainly weighed on sweetener prices.
Besides, lower advices from upcountry markets too put pressure on prices, they added.
In millgate section, sugar Modinagar, Dhampur and Bulandshar dropped by Rs 20 each to settle at Rs 3,270, Rs 3,250 and Rs 3,240 per quintal, respectively.
Prices of Budhana, Thanabhavan and Khatauli also eased by Rs 15 each to Rs 3,275, Rs 3,265 and Rs 3,355 per quintal, respectively.
