Sugar millgate price remains up on better offtake

Sugar mill gate prices recorded another rise of up to Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following continued buying by stockists and bulk consumers ahead of new month.
Marketmen said increased offtake by stockists as well as bulk consumers particualrly soft-drink and ice-cream makers, ahead of new month coupled with tight supplies from mills, largely kept sweetener prices higher.
In the millgate section, Budhana, Thanabhavan and Dhanora gained by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,570, Rs 2,560 and Rs 2,510 per quintal.
Prices of Sakoti and Khatuli also moved up by Rs 5 each to Rs 2,485 and Rs 2,645 per quintal.
Elsewhere, sugar spot prices maintained at previous closing levels on some support from retailers.
