Sugar millgate prices fall on subdued demand

Sugar millgate prices fell by 20 paise per kg at the wholesale sugar market in national capital today following slackness in demand amid rising supplies.
Marketmen said lack of buying activity at current levels and pick-up in supplies from millers led to the fall in sugar millgate prices.
However, on the other hand, prices of superior quality sugar enquired higher by Re 1 in retail markets.
In millgate section, sugar Mawana dropped by 20 paise to Rs 32.90 per kg, while Dorala, Kinnoni, Simbholi and Khatauli traded lower by 10 paise each to Rs 33.20, Rs 33.40, Rs 33.60 and Rs 33.70 per quintal, respectively.
On the other hand, sugar prices in retail markets were moving in the range of Rs 38.00-40.00 per kilo.
