Sugar prices decline on ample supply, sporadic demand

Sugar prices dropped by Rs 60 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following higher supplies from mills amid selective buying by stockists and bulk consumers.
Marketmen said pick up in supplies in the market after the Centre directed state governments to impose stock holding limits on traders to check hoarding and control rising sugar prices, mainly put pressure on sweetener prices.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices slipped by Rs 60 each to end at Rs 3,700-3,800 and Rs 3,690-3,790 per quintal.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also asked lower by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,440-3,520 and Rs 3,430-3,510 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar fell by Rs 50 at Rs 3,440,while Asmoli dipped by Rs 40 at Rs 3,480 per quintal.
Sugar Kinnoni declined by Rs 30 at Rs 3,520, meanwhile Budhana, Thanabhavan and Simbholi dropped Rs 20 each at Rs 3,460,Rs 3,450, Rs 3,510 per quintal.
