Sugar prices fall by Rs 50 per quintal on bumper stocks

Sugar prices fell up to Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following adequate stocks and increased supplies by mills.
Marketmen said sentiments remained weak and prices fell sharply due to ample stocks following persistent supplies by mills against subdued demand from bulk consumers.
Meanwhile, prices of sweetener have declined by over Rs 200 per quintal since the end of festive season.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices dropped by Rs 30 each to settle at Rs 2,940-3,140 and Rs 2,930-3,130 per quintal, respectively.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices too fell by a similar margin to end at Rs 2,800-2,990 and Rs 2,790-2,975 per quintal, respectively.
In millgate section, sugar Dorala, Dhanora, Chandpur and Bulandshar recorded a fall of Rs 50 each to close at Rs 2,910, Rs 2,870, Rs 2,830 and Rs 2,870, while Mawana gili lost Rs 40 at Rs 2,830 per quintal.

In tandem with overall trend, sugar Budhana, Thanabhvan, Simbholi and Sakoti slipped by Rs 35 each to Rs 2,920, Rs 2,910, Rs 2,955 and Rs 2,860 per quintal, respectively.
