Sugar prices fall on ample supplies

Sugar prices drifted lower by Rs 35 per quintal at the wholesale sugar market in national capital today following heavy stocks position even as demand picked up following beginning of month.
Marketmen said adequate stocks position following increased supplies from mills pulled down sweetener prices.
They said, however, pick up in demand from retailers and bulk consumers, restricted the losses.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices quoted lower by Rs 20 each to settle at Rs 33,00-3,470 and Rs 3,280-3,450 per quintal.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also enquired lower by Rs 10 each to Rs 3,130-3,320 and Rs 3,110-3,300 per quintal.
In millgate section, sugar Dhanora and Khatuli dropped by Rs 35 each to Rs 3,175 and Rs 3,285 per quintal, while Chandpur dipped by Rs 30 to Rs 3,150 per quintal.

Prices of Mawana, Dorala and Bulandshar were down by Rs 25 each to Rs 3,205, Rs 3,200 and Rs 3,160 per quintal, while Modinagar shed Rs 20 to Rs 3,300 per quintal.
