Sugar prices fall on higher output, weak demand

Sugar prices fell by Rs 60 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following mounting stocks on constant supplies amid weak demand.
Meanwhile, sugar prices of the government and co- operative mills remained quiet.
Apart from ample stocks position following higher output this marketing year, low demand from bulk consumers and stockists too kept pressure on the sweetener prices, traders said.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices dropped by Rs 30 each to end at Rs 3,200-3,420 and Rs 3,190-3,410 per quintal.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also declined by Rs 35 each to end at Rs 3,070-3,220 and Rs 3,060-3,210 per quintal.
In the mill gate section, sugar Dorala, Modinagar and Shamli slipped by Rs 60 each to Rs 3,110, Rs 3,090 and Rs 3,075, while Mawana, Asmoli, Budhana, Sakoti, Thanabhavan and Dhampur fell by Rs 50 each to Rs 3,110, Rs 3,190, Rs 3,120, Rs 3,090 and Rs 3,115 and Rs 3,090 per quintal.
