Sugar prices fall on higher stocks, low demand

Sugar prices weakened by Rs 35 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today due to bumper stocks following increased supplies against muted demand from bulk consumers as well as retailers.
Marketmen said fall in offtake by stockists and bulk consumers amid relentless supplies from mills mainly led to the fall in sweetener prices.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices eased by Rs 10 each to settle at Rs 3,980-4,0790 and Rs 3,970-4,060 per quintal.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also moved down by Rs 10 each to Rs 3,620-3,760 and Rs 3,610-3,750 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar Asmoli dropped the most by Rs 35 to Rs 3,725, followed by Dorala and Sakoti by Rs 25 each to Rs 3,735 and Rs 3,685 per quintal.
Prices of Budhana, Thanabhavan, Dhanora, Dhampur and Shamli also fell by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,730, Rs 3,725, Rs 3,730, Rs 3,690 and Rs 3,705 per quintal respectively.
