Sugar prices recover on tight supply, increased demand

Sugar prices firmed up by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today, supported by restricted supplies from mills amid pick up in buying by bulk consumers and retailers.
Marketmen attributed the recovery in sweetner prices to restricted supplies from millers against increased offtake by bulk consumers as well as retailers to meet seasonal demand.
Sugar ready Medium and second grade prices were up by Rs 50 each to end at Rs 2,650-2,780 and Rs 2,640-2,770 per quintal.
Mill delivery Medium and second grade prices also gained Rs 40 each to conclude at Rs 2,450-2,630 and Rs 2,440-2,620 per quintal.
In millgate section, sugar Dhampur rose by Rs 50 at Rs 2,480, while Budhana, Thanabhavan and Dorala by Rs 45 each to Rs 2,520, Rs 2,510 and Rs 2,530 per quintal.
Sugar Kinnoni, Asmoli, Simbholi, Khatuli and Sakoti also improved by Rs 40 each to Rs 2,630, Rs 2,620, Rs 2,500, Rs 2,620 and Rs 2,490 per quintal respectively.
