Sugar prices remain up on strong demand, tight supply

Sugar prices rose by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following persistent buying by bulk consumers due to ongoing festive and wedding season amidst fall in supplies from mills.
Marketmen said increased buying support from bulk consumers amid thin supplies from mills supported the upside in sugar prices.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices closed higher by Rs 20 each to Rs 2,700-2,820 and Rs 2,690-2,810 per quintal.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also settled Rs 40 each higher at Rs 2,500-2,680 and Rs 2,490-2,670 per quintal.
In the millgate section, Dhanora, Sakoti and Dhampur climbed by Rs 50 each at Rs 2,560, Rs 2,540 and Rs 2,560, while Ramala, Anupshaher, Baghpat, Nazibabad and Morna swifted by Rs 40 each at Rs 2,510, Rs 2,500, Rs 2,520 and Rs 2,500 and Rs 2,520 per quintal.
Sugar prices have gone up by over Rs 100 per quintal in the past three days.
