Sugar prices rise on festive season demand, tight supply

Sugar prices rose by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on the back of ongoing festive season demand amid restricted supplies from mills.
Marketmen said increased demand, driven by ongoing festive season coupled with tight supplies from mills mainly pushed up sweetener prices.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 traded higher at Rs 3,920-4,200 and Rs 3,910-4,190 per quintal.
Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices improved by Rs 10 each to end at Rs 3,600-3,840 and Rs 3,590-3,830 per quintal.
In millgate section, sugar asmoli, dorala, dhanora, dhampur and chandpur gained by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,840, Rs 3,740, Rs 3,680, Rs 3,650 and Rs 3,620 per quintal, respectively.
Prices of khatuli, ramala and sakoti also inched up by Rs 10 each to Rs 3,840, Rs 3,610 and Rs 3,640 per quintal.
