Sugar prices rise on fresh buying, thin supply

Sugar prices rose by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following fresh buying by stockists and bulk consumers amid tight supplies.
Marketmen said besides restricted arrivals from mills, gearing up in demand from stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers ahead of new month, mainly brought the rise in sweetener prices.
Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices traded higher by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,370-3,470 and Rs 3,360-3,460 per quintal.
In millgate section, sugar Kinnoni, Asmoli, Dhanora, Sakoti, Simbholi and Morna improved by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,470, Rs 3,450, Rs 3,390, Rs 3,400, Rs 3,450 and Rs 3,400 per quintal, respectively.
