Sugar prices rise on high demand

Sugar prices improved at the wholesale market in the national capital today on increased offtake by bulk consumers and retailers.
Marketmen said increased offtake by bulk consumers and retailers mainly helped sugar prices to trade marginally higher.
They said, however, increased supplies by mills, capped the gains.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 traded higher at Rs 2,800-3,050 and Rs 2,790-3,030 from previous levels of Rs 2,780-3,050 and Rs 2,770-3,030 per quintal, respectively.
However, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 held steady at Rs 2,750-2,910 and Rs 2,740-2,880 per quintal, respectively.
In the millgate section, Dorala, Budhana, Thanabhavan and Dhanora were enquired higher by Rs 10 each to Rs 2,810, Rs 2,800, Rs 2,790 and Rs 2,780 per quintal, respectively.
Modingar and Khatauli were up by Rs 5 each to Rs 2,800 and Rs 2,870, while Chandpur traded higher by Rs 10 to Rs 2,765 per quintal.
