Sugar prices rise on increased demand ahead of new month

Sugar prices improved by Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today due to a surge in demand ahead of the new month amid tight supplies from mills.
Marketmen said increased offtake by stockists and bulk consumers ahead of new month, attributed rise in sweetener prices.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices rose by Rs 40 each, to settle at Rs 3,800-3,900 and Rs 3,790-3,890 per quintal, respectively.
Likewise, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices rose by Rs 20 each to finish at Rs 3,480-3,620 and Rs 3,470-3,610 per quintal, respectively.
In the millgate section, sugar Ramala, Baghpat, Anupshaher and Morna gained Rs 30 each to Rs 3,480, Rs 3,490, Rs 3,480 and Rs 3,490, while Kinnoni, sakoti, chandpur and Nazibabad advanced by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,620, Rs 3,500, Rs 3,490 and Rs 3,470 per quintal, respectively.
