Sugar prices show mix trend

Sugar prices witnessed a mixed trend at the wholesale market in the national capital today with prices of select varieties improved on buying support.
Marketmen said better offtake by stockists and bulk consumers mainly led to the rise in prices of select mills.
On the other hand, increased selling by mills dragged down sweetener prices of few mills.
Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices asked higher by Rs 10 each to end at Rs 3,530-3,600 and Rs 3,520-3,590 per quintal.
In millgate section, sugar Mawana and Dhampur prices rose by Rs 10 each at Rs 3,600 and Rs 3,530 per quintal.
While, Simbholi, Khatuli and Chandpur lost Rs 10 each at Rs 3,580, Rs 3,570 and Rs 3,520 per quintal.

Meanwhile, government yesterday imposed 20 per cent customs duty on sugar exports to boost domestic supply and check prices which are ruling high at Rs 40/kg.
