Sugar prices up on brisk demand, restrict supply

Sugar prices spurted by Rs 50 per quintal in the national capital today following thin supply from mills amid speculative buying by stockist and bulk consumers.
Marketmen said fall in supply from mills owing to delay in cane-crushing mainly pushed up sweetner prices.
Buying by stockist, retailers and bulk consumers, such as soft-drink, ice-cream and sweet makers also helped to boost the prices, they added.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices rose by Rs 30 each to conclude at Rs 2980-3250 and Rs 2970-3240 per quintal.
Similarly mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices gained Rs 50 each to Rs 2810-3105 and Rs 2800-3095 per quintal.
Among millgate including duty section, Ramala, Baghpat and Morana shot up by Rs 50 each to settle at Rs 2,840, Rs 2,850 and Rs 2,840 per quintal.

Sugar Morna, Chandpur and Kinnoni jumped up by Rs 40 each to Rs 2,840, Rs 2,850 and Rs 3,105 per quintal, while Nazibabad and Dhanora improved by Rs 30 each to Rs 2,820 and Rs 2,940 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 2,980-3,250, S-30 Rs 2,970-3,240.
Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,810-3,105; S-30 Rs 2,800-3,095.
Sugar mill gate (including duty): Mawana 2955, Kinnoni 3,105, Asmoli 3,050, Dorala 2950, Budhana 2955, Thanabhavan 2950, Dhanora 2940, Simbholi 3,065, Modi Nagar Rs 2,910, Khatuli 3,060, Dhampur 2,900, Ramala 2,840, Bulandshar 2,930, Anupshar 2,810, Baghpat 2,850, Morna 2,840, Sakoti 2,870, Chandpur 2,885, Amroha N.T. And Nazibabad 2,820.
