Sugar prices up on higher demand, tight supply

Sugar prices marked higher by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following increased buying by stockists and bulk consumers amid tight supplies from mills.
Marketmen said persistent buying by stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers, mainly pushed up sweetener prices.
Moreover, pause in supplies from too supported the upmove in prices, they added.
Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 traded higher at Rs 3,540-3,640 and Rs 3,530-3,630 as compared to last close of Rs 3,540-3,620 and Rs 3,530-3,610 per quintal.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices too surged to Rs 3,850-3,900 and Rs 3,840-3,890 instead of Rs 3,840-3,900 and Rs 3,830-3,890 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar Dorala, Kinnoni, Asmoli, Simbholi and Khatuli rose by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,610, Rs 3,640, Rs 3,610, Rs 3,640 and Rs 3,630 per quintal respectively.
